Abstract
Throughout her life, Mary struggles with her identity, but she still cannot escape the unlucky fate. This paper analyzes Mary's identity crisis and identity construction with Lacan’s Subject theory, showing the relationship between Self and the other and revealing the reasons for Mary's failure in identity construction.
