Abstract
The integration of English songs into foreign language teaching and learning is not a novel approach. However, the employment of English songs for the purpose of translation studies, particularly translation practice, poses a great challenge. Nevertheless, the benefits of this approach are undeniable, as it yields positive impacts on translation practice and fosters language proficiency and translation competence among learners. This paper, based on qualitative research and analysis, will first delve into the translation methods currently employed in translation practice, including their application to translating songs. Subsequently, it will examine the beneficial outcomes of incorporating English songs into English-Vietnamese translation practice sessions. Finally, the author will discuss some conclusions regarding the dialectical relationship between language proficiency, translation competence, the utilization of English songs as materials in translation practice sessions, and the quality of the translation.
